It is that time of the year again. Yes, the stressful, the dreaded – PSLE is around the corner. If your kid is appearing for the PSLE this year then in all likelihood you would have been putting in a great amount of effort along with him/her for quite some time now. So, how’s the mood in your house right now? Yes, there is bound to be some tension and concern and at times it might be us parents who are more anxious than our little ones. But now is not the time for all that. With just one month left to go for the big days, now is the time to review all that you have done and get set to ace the last lap of your preparation. Here are some things to look out for.
Finding the chinks in the armour
The first rule with regards to reviewing is to find out the areas where your kid is falling behind. Once you have done this in a proper way you can go about adopting suitable changes to correct your course. You should allot more time for subjects that your kid is having trouble with. At the same time, add some words of appreciation for the things that he is doing good at. The review period can get lousy especially when you are relearning what you have already gone through. It is at this point in time that few words of encouragement and appreciation from parents will mean to kids.
Run a few mocks
We spoke about identifying your weaknesses. But how do we get about doing this in an accurate manner? Mock tests are your best bet here. Get your child to take at least one mock per subject to assess his level of preparation. In addition to this, mock tests can also prove to be valuable practice for your child. The more tests your kid takes, the more prepared he will be. It will also help your kid better manage their time during exams.
Let them teach
A good way to revise is to teach something that you have learnt to others. Ask your child to imagine that he is the teacher and that you are his student. Then ask him to teach you the topics that he has been learning for his PSLE. This makes sure that he gets a good amount of clarity regarding the subject and also helps you to find out the areas which need redressal.
Don’t let it get to you
In addition to all this, realise the fact that both you and your kid need to be keeping a calm mind now. Don’t overthink or pressurise yourself too much. Ensure that your kid gets a good amount of sleep, adequate physical activity and a needed amount of relaxation.
Make things easy with our Revision Pack

So then make the most out of the last month. Stay calm and do your work. Remind your kids that their efforts will definitely get them the rewards. Ask your kids to have faith in their abilities and tell them that you are proud of them.
So, then all the best and just ace the tests!
