181 primary schools. 41,888 available seats. Here’s all that you need to know about the Primary 1 Admission!
The primary 1 registration just began on June 30, 2021. Due to the pandemic, the process is online like last year. There are 181 primary schools with a total availability of 41,888 seats. Make sure you are not late and apply within the allotted time.
Registration Process Overview:
The process is in phases, and you can apply through 2 modes of registration- depending on eligibility.
- Online application form for Phases 1, 2A(1), 2A(2), and 2B.
- The Primary One Internet System (P1-IS) for Phases 2C and 2C Supplementary
Parents will receive the results via SMS at the end of the registration phase.
For international students, there will be a Phase 3 registration process later.
Things to know before registering:
- It is for children born between January 2, 2015, and January 1, 2016 (both dates inclusive).
- You can apply in a phase as long as you satisfy one of its criteria.
- You need a valid SingPass with 2-Factor Authentication for registration.
- You can apply for only one school in a phase. For any changes, submit a new application in the same
phase. Only the latest application will be considered. - Choose your preferred school carefully. Consider the distance from home, whether it is suitable for your
child’s needs and skills, and the campus atmosphere there.
Documents Required
Make sure you have all the relevant documents and information ready. You will need:
- Child’s full name
- Child’s birth certificate number
- Child’s date of birth
- The address used for registration
- Contact details
You may need to upload the soft copy of the back of both parents’ NRICs and/or the court order setting out the custody arrangement for your child during registration.
You will need to produce your child’s immunisation records to the school on the reporting day.
The schools may also ask for the documents to prove your eligibility for the phase you registered in.
Phases:
Phase 1
Eligibility:
- You have an older child currently studying in the chosen school.
Registration:
The school will provide you with the registration details.
Time to apply:
9 am, June 30, 2021 (Wednesday) – 4.30 pm, July 1, 2021 (Thursday)
All children registered under this phase are guaranteed places in schools.
Phase 2
2A(1)
Eligibility:
- You are a former student and have joined the alumni association not later than June 30, 2020.
- You are a member of the Advisory or Management Committee of the preferred school.
Registration:
Complete the online registration on the MoE website.
Time to Apply:
9 am – 4.30 pm on July 7, 2021 (Wednesday)
Result:
July 13, 2021 (Tuesday)
2A(2)
Eligibility:
- You or another child of yours have previously studied in the preferred school.
- You are a staff member of the school.
- Your child is currently in the MOE Kindergarten in your preferred school.
Registration:
Complete the online registration on the MoE website.
Time to Apply:
9 am, July 14, 2021 (Wednesday) – 4.30 pm, July 15, 2021 (Thursday)
Result:
July 23, 2021 (Friday)
2B
Eligibility:
- You are a parent volunteer at the school, joining no later than 1 July 2020, and completing at least 40
hours of service by 30 June 2021. - You are a member endorsed by the church or clan directly connected to the school.
- You are endorsed as an active community leader.
Registration:
Complete the online registration on the MoE website.
Time to Apply:
9 am, July 26, 2021 (Monday) – 4.30 pm, July 27, 2021 (Tuesday)
Result:
August 2, 2021 (Monday)
2C
Eligibility:
- If your child is eligible for P1 and has not yet registered in a primary school.
Registration:
Register online using the Primary One Internet System (P1-IS)
If you are unable to use the P1-IS, use the online form link provided in the P1-IS for registration.
Time to Apply:
9 am, August 3, 2021 (Tuesday) – 4.30 pm, August 5, 2021 (Thursday)
Result:
August 17, 2021 (Tuesday)
2C(Supplementary)
Eligibility:
- If your child is eligible for P1 and has not yet registered in a primary school after Phase 2C.
Registration:
Register online using the Primary One Internet System (P1-IS)
If you are unable to use the P1-IS, use the online form link provided in the P1-IS for registration.
Time to Apply:
9 am, August 19, 2021 (Thursday) – 4.30 pm, August 20, 2021 (Friday)
Result:
August 31, 2021 (Tuesday)
Balloting
If the number of applicants exceeds the number of seats available in a school, balloting will take place. The balloting process is computerised and is conducted by the MoE.
You can check out the vacancies and also see the list of schools where ballots are required at the end of the registration phase at the MoE site by clicking here.
Priority order for Ballot:
- Singapore Citizens (SC) living within 1 km of the school.
- SC living between 1 km and 2 km from the school.
- SC living outside 2 km of the school.
- Permanent Residents (PR) living within 1 km of the school.
- PR living between 1 km and 2 km of the school.
- PR living outside 2 km of the school.
Before choosing a school, try to find out if there is a high chance for the registrants to get through and whether there was balloting in the previous years. Consider these priority criteria before choosing a school.
