Somehow, as time towards the end of the year quickens, many of us are excited to bid the year 2021 goodbye. 2021 felt more like an extended version of 2020 with lockdown and restrictions playing a major part in our daily lives. Well, we are just a day away from entering the year 2022, and so, let us get ready to welcome the new year. As we hope that the new year brings new opportunities, good luck, and prosperity to everyone, let us recall the highlights of the year 2021.
Travelling down the memory lane
The last two years have been a roller coaster ride for all of us. Lockdowns, travel restrictions, and so many unfortunate events happening all over. 2020 saw the world locking up, faced with an unprecedented disaster. Comparatively, 2021 saw the world slowly opening up. We hoped to be rid of all these restrictions and see the end of the pandemic. Unfortunately, it didn’t really happen, just a bare minimum of loosening of measures and restrictions. The year. 2022 comes with the hope of us being able to be free from our current situations and the world getting back to normal.
Most of the world spent the first half of the year locked up, and we saw countries opening up slowly in the second half. For many, this year was not a good one. From losing loved ones, jobs, homes, and other things, it might not be a happy memory to look back. But the lessons each passing year teach us are valuable. We learn more from our struggles and despair than from our happy moments.
Tell your children that even if they faced losses and events that made them sad, made them struggle, they can make use of what they learned from it and become better persons. It’s how the human race has always been. We can learn from our losses and use them to succeed in the future. That is what has got us where we are now. Even if the pandemic hasn’t ended, we are slowly inching back to normalcy. We will overcome this trial as we have overcome many others in the past. So, tell your children to take some time to look back at what they went through this year. Make a list of all the good things that happened to you this year. Try to look at them and feel grateful for the blessings you have received.
What’s a new year without resolutions!
While getting ready to welcome the new year, it is a good idea to write down some resolutions for the coming year. We have a few suggestions for you and your children.
- Read more books. Create a reading list for the year and try to complete it.
- Try out a new recipe every month. Try cooking food that originated from different cultures and countries. It can help you get to know about their cultures and improve your skills.
- Create a schedule and stick to it. this year, try to bring some order to your and your children’s lives.
- Learn a new language
- Make a garden at home
- Start meditation and working out
These pointers might seem simple, but these simple things can greatly improve the quality of your life. It is important that we jot down realistic goals as it will keep us motivated. Unrealistic resolutions usually don’t motivate people much, and people end up losing interest halfway through. Also, goals that are realistic to a particular individual might not be realistic to another. It varies depending on the interest of each and every individual. Ever wondered why there are huge crowds at the gym only in the month of January? Well, now you know the answer!
Review and adapt wherever necessary and keep track of your goals. Keeping a journal can help you stick to your goals.
Welcome 2022!
A new year comes with new beginnings, new opportunities, and new hopes for all. Let us all get ready to welcome a new beginning and look forward to what surprises this year will bring us.
At the same time, let us also take some time to remember the sacrifices and efforts of people all over the world, whether they are healthcare workers or other essential workers. Express your gratitude towards your parents, teachers, friends, and everyone else who stuck with you and supported you this year. And remember to find hope in the times to come. That is what will lead us to a better future. Even in the darkest times, you will be able to find glimmers of hope. Hold onto that. Any trials and tribulations you are facing now will come to pass, and you will look back and see them as precious lessons life gave you.
We hope the new year brings lots of joy and prosperity to every one of you. On new year’s eve, when the clock strikes 12, let go of all the sorrows and struggles of the past year and let us together welcome a happy 2022. We wish everyone a Happy and Blessed New year! 🙂
