Planning for a positive break
Just half-way through 2020, but it feels like we’ve been in this year for ages!
So, how is your 2020 going? This year, people across age groups have had their lives disrupted like never before. For kids, these disruptions are sure to have an extra impact. The pandemic related challenges have not yet subsided and we need to be on a constant vigil. However, we need to make sure that our kids are not unduly affected by all this.
Unconventional and Uncertain
How has the first half of this year been for our kids? The COVID pandemic and the associated circuit breaker measures have affected our kids in significant ways. Academic calendars had to be redrawn and new learning techniques were introduced. For a great part of the year, our kids were forced to follow Home-based Learning. They were also unable to go out, as usual, forcing them to temporarily abandon many of their favourite activities. It has been a tough year indeed. After the school holidays were brought forward to May, our kids began getting back to school in June. Term 3 is going to be a bit longer than usual this year.
Don’t you think all this is enough reason to set up a refreshing holiday plan?
Breathe in hope
Let’s use these days to spread some smiles on the faces of our little ones. Across the globe, the incidence of depression and other mental ailments have surged in the first half of the year. We need to make sure that the trend doesn’t catch up with our kids.
Make some extra time for them. Smile before them and breathe some extra positivity into their lives.
Boost the PSLE prep
Preparing for the PSLE, O Levels and other important exams is always a challenging task. This year things might feel a bit more challenging. Parents, teachers and tutors must ensure that they give maximum support to children. Have you thought about using the mid-term break for exam preparations? For all those who are preparing for the PSLE this year, this break can be a major power booster. Grab it with your arms wide open. Keep in mind the following two steps:
The dates of the examinations are nearing. It’s time to don the armour and be ready to ace those tests. So don’t waste your time and make sure that the break turns into a booster for you. There are several online learning platforms which will complement your learning experience and even help you in your revisions. Do check them out as well.
Catch-up on some fun
Right now, a number of relaxations are kicking in as Singapore is easing out of the circuit breaker measures. It’s time to go out a bit and have some fun (but make sure that you maintain all the necessary safety precautions of course). A number of public attractions have been reopened and a few others are set to re-open in the coming days. Make a visit to Madame Tussauds or the National Museum. Go out and spend some time with your kids at the park. A fun trip to the Singapore Zoo might also be a good option.
Let’s make sure that we make the best out of this break. Bring some smiles on your kid’s face. Use the time for a bit of extra PSLE and ‘O’ Level preparation. And give your kids some fun.
Looking for a few fun activities to spice up your holidays? Don’t worry! 🙂
