CCAs are co-curricular activities that students are encouraged to take on in school, to enable them to have a more holistic education. These are some common doubts that can pop up in the minds of parents while helping their kids pick CCAs. When there is no clear-cut option, students themselves tend to get confused as well.
So, what really should be the determining factors while picking a CCA? Is there an approach that can make it easier to select the choice of CCA?

So here’s rule number 1 – you have got to pick a CCA that is close to your heart. The whole point about CCAs is that students get to pick an activity that they are interested in and are keen to develop their skills in the field.
Parents, here’s a disclaimer for you guys. Never force a CCA onto your kids. Well, you can definitely speak to your kids about the pros and cons of different CCAs in an objective manner, but please bear in mind not force them to pick any specific one.

Take a piece of paper and a pencil. Divide the paper into two halves. On one half of the paper write the pros of a specific CCA and on the other half write down the cons. For each pro, assign a score from 1 to 10 depending upon how much you feel it’s a pro (with 10 being most desirable) and for each con assign a score from -1 to -10.
Do the same for the other CCAs that you have narrowed down. Comparing the total scores that you assign for each CCA can help you make a more reasonable decision or help declutter things.
