With the current generation having a better understanding of emoticons than emotions, sometimes it may be challenging for the young ones (and ourselves included) to cope with emotions. With the current ongoing Covid-19 pandemic that encourages many activities to take place online, the struggle to manage emotions is real.

We can split up our lifestyle into two – the pre-COVID era and the post-COVID era, mainly because of the drastic changes that the pandemic has brought about in our day-to-day lives. The stress of managing these changes in lifestyle and work has been occupying everyone’s mind for most of this time. But, have you taken some time to think about how it has been affecting your children?
How can I reach out to my child?
Children, especially teens, might be under stress that parents don’t know. Parents constantly keep a watch on the physical health of their children. But, what about their mental health? Due to the stigma associated with mental illnesses, parents often turn a blind eye to these issues. The constant pressure to perform academically, building a good image, focusing on their future- all these might be too much to handle for some children. Also, children are more at risk due to the changes in the brain during puberty.
How to develop self-belief in my child?
A healthy relationship with the family is essential for good character and brain development. Have regular conversations with your children. Talk about their issues and help them overcome any challenges. It can help them rely on you when needed, and you can gain a better understanding of them.
