#HappyFathersDay2021 – this may be a common post that many may have this Sunday, 20 June 2021. Whether it is on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, there is bound to be groups of 5 people (due to Covid-19 restrictions) posing with their fathers. Let’s try not consider this as just a one-day celebration, but make it a point to celebrate these important pillars in our life daily!
What is Father’s day? It is a day to celebrate fatherhood, a day to make every father feel special and to acknowledge their efforts and sacrifices.
Fathers greatly influence the development and success of a child’s life- as much as mothers. But, their roles are not often given importance or acknowledged as much.
Children look towards their father for a sense of security and protection. During this pandemic situation, nothing can give children peace of mind and a feeling of security more than their parents, especially a loving and supportive father. They are the role models boys aspire to grow up to be, and for girls, he creates the impression of how every male should be. These are high expectations and they influence the children’s life and every decision they make.
A good father guides his children through the journey of life and imparts the wisdom to choose the right things. Mothers are often the ‘loving you no matter what’ characters. But, fathers are the ones who often remain strict and correct you when you stray from the right path. Children want to make their fathers proud, and it helps in their efforts towards achieving their goals- academic and others. A good father, who is involved in every stage of his child’s growth and development, boosts the child’s confidence and intellectual capabilities. Moreover, children who grow up with upstanding father figures are less likely to display delinquent behavior and are less prone to mental disorders.
No one can measure the effect fathers have on a child’s life. The sacrifices and effort they make, the lessons they impart to us, cannot be quantified. So, it is very important that we at least let them know that we acknowledge and are grateful for everything they do for us.
And, Father’s Day is just the day to do that. 🙂
Celebrating Father’s Day 2021
Every year, the third Sunday of June is celebrated as Father’s Day. This year it is on 20 June. So, what are some things that we (as children) can do to make our fathers feel special on the day?
- Plan the day with activities that he will enjoy
Think of what he likes and doesn’t like. Plan activities that will make him happy. If he doesn’t like getting up early, don’t disturb him in the morning and let him sleep. Plan around such things. Make sure to keep it a surprise. And, try to plan early, don’t wait till the last minute.
You can get the whole family involved. Ask for their input and plan family activities and games. You can try making a slideshow of pictures of your favorite moments with your father.
- Prepare a special breakfast for him
Try preparing his favorite breakfast. If you are too young or can’t cook on your own, get help from your mother or elder siblings. Or, you can also try making something that he might enjoy but has never tried before.
- If your father is not at home, call and wish him
If your father is away from home due to work or some other reason (such as Covid-19), call him up and wish him. Facetime Talk to him, ask him how he is, and make sure that you tell him that you love and cherish him. If he is to come home later that day or in the next few days, shift your activities and celebrations for that day.
- Gift him something
Get him a gift. Try to find something that he has wanted for some time but hasn’t bought it yet. Or, try getting a personalized or handmade gift for him. The price doesn’t matter. You might not have money to spend on expensive items, but know that it is the thought that counts. Your father will love any gift that he receives from you.
- Try doing his chores for him. Let it be his day off
Divide his chores among yourselves and tell him to relax on the day. Make him feel special.
Note for parents:
Next week is a week of 88tuition Masterclasses for your children.
- If your child is attending the class, make sure they are not disturbed during the sessions.
- Ensure that they have a peaceful and quiet environment to study.
- Ensure that they have a good internet connection so that they can attend the classes without any interruptions.
- Try to ensure that they get plenty of sleep and eat healthily. Children can only attend classes and concentrate if they are in good health.
- Do not put pressure on them. They should always know that you are there to support them every step of the way.
The classes also contain some lessons for parents, so try tuning in with / for them. The masterclasses will be a great help to your children. If you haven’t signed up yet, do it now!
Parents are the greatest blessings in a child’s life. They take care of you and put your needs above theirs. A good father teaches his children more important lessons in life than any teacher can. So, make sure that they know how much you value them and love them.
To all the fathers out there – we wish you a very Happy Father’s Day!
